With a giant nod to Dr. Robert Sapolsky's publication, "Why Zebras Don't Get Ulcers," this blog is one woman's occasional glimpses of peace in an otherwise chaotic world. Instead of getting caught up in human insanity and stress, the blogger strives to find her inner zebra for a simpler, more peaceful life.
Classroom Learning 2.0: Thing #2, Lifelong Learning.
ReplyDeleteThis lesson is about the 7-1/2 Habits of Highly Successful Lifelong Learners.
Easiest Habit: For me, the easiest habit (#7-1/2) may be "Play." In all honesty, though, I find that play may be the easiest thing to do, but the hardest thing to allow yourself to do as an adult. Play is healthy and creative and educational, but somehow we get the message that it is just for kids. If an adult plays, there must be something odd or childish or self-indulgent about the person.
The most difficult habit for me is #3, viewing problems as challenges. I try to remind myself of that when confronted with something perplexing or unexpected. If I'm lost on the road or stuck in traffic, I try to tell myself, "It's an adventure." At work, when something comes up and I'm not sure of how to tackle it, I tell myself, "There is an answer; I just don't know it yet." That reminds me that there will be a resolution, but I first have to figure out my options.
Discovery Post for Thing #3: For the third activity, we were asked to create a blog and an avatar for the blog. Tah-dah! Here is http://innerzebra.blogspot.com with my avatar (including zebra) attached. This was inspirational, but challenging. Just naming the display name, the blog, and the blog URL took a while since I was told to find something unique that reflects me. I wanted to use names that remind me what I'm about. Here they are.
